Depending on your team event nothing gets a group involved like competition. Form teams early, before the team event, and that will give them time to get shirts, build-up the competitive spirit, and drive anticipation. Pass Ownership
Instead of saying “our event” or “Company XYZ’s team building”, use a phrase like “your event” because it creates ownership of the event for individuals. Allowing employees to vote on an aspect of the event can also build support. Don’t forget to let them know how they will benefit rather than the company. A person is more likely to enjoy a group team building activity if it benefits themself.
Do Something Unique
If you intrigue them it goes a long way toward excitement for the team building activity. Choose something that is new, fresh or unexpected for the group to participate in. A unique team building event is memorable.
